چکیده
Virtual instruments provide task-specific uncertainty evaluation in surface and dimensional metrology. We demonstrate the first virtual coherence scanning interferometer that can accurately predict results from measurements of surfaces with complex topography using a specific real instrument. The instrument is powered by physical models derived principles, including surface-scattering models, three-dimensional imaging theory, error-generation models. By incorporating influences various error sources directly into interferogram before reconstructing surface, works same manner as To enhance fidelity measurement, experimentally determined transfer function configuration used to characterise Finally, we experimental validation instrument, followed predictions for several typical are within validity regime

Vibration compensating beam scanning interferometer for surface measurement.
Light beam scanning using a dispersive element and wavelength tuning is coupled with fiber-optic interferometry to realize a new surface measurement instrument. The instrument is capable of measuring nanoscale surface structures and form deviations. It features active vibration compensation and a small optical probe size that may be placed remotely from the main apparatus. Active vibration comp...
متن کاملCoherence scanning interferometry: linear theory of surface measurement.
The characterization of imaging methods as three-dimensional (3D) linear filtering operations provides a useful way to compare the 3D performance of optical surface topography measuring instruments, such as coherence scanning interferometry, confocal and structured light microscopy. In this way, the imaging system is defined in terms of the point spread function in the space domain or equivalen...
متن کاملA "virtual-interferometer" technique for surface metrology.
We demonstrate a novel technique for performing aberration-corrected surface metrology within existing wavefront-feedback systems. Our technique uses several phase measurements to calculate phase differences that directly reveal the surface gradients of an object under test, due to orthogonal displacements of that object between measurements. We then apply a least-squares algorithm for surface ...
متن کاملScanning Michelson interferometer for imaging surface acoustic wave fields.
A scanning homodyne Michelson interferometer is constructed for two-dimensional imaging of high-frequency surface acoustic wave (SAW) fields in SAW devices. The interferometer possesses a sensitivity of ~10(-5)nm/ radicalHz , and it is capable of directly measuring SAW's with frequencies ranging from 0.5 MHz up to 1 GHz. The fast scheme used for locating the optimum operation point of the inter...
متن کاملAccelerated Surface Measurement Using Wavelength Scanning Interferometer with Compensation of Environmental Noise
The optical interferometry systems are widely used for surface metrology. However, the environmental noise and the data analysis approach can limit the measurement performance during inprocess inspection. This paper introduces a wavelength scanning interferometer (WSI) for micro and nano-scale areal surface measurement. The WSI can measure large discontinuous surface profiles without phase ambi...
